what to expect
AT the Appointment
My suite is in a historic building in the heart of Westport. When you book your appointment, you’ll receive the door code to get in. We will chat about how the service works, any applicable aftercare instructions and I’ll answer any questions you might have.
For PMU Clients: The first part of the appointment is spent mapping out your ideal brow shape. I’ll discuss with you your goals and then create a stencil around your existing brow, or where it would be, to create your desired length and thickness. Next comes a topical numbing treatment to make sure you are comfortable during the microblading service. Finally I will microblade your brows, working from one to the other. You’ll return six weeks later for your follow up “perfecting” appointment.
AFTER THE MICROBLADING PROCEDURE:
To help minimize scabbing, use a clean tissue or cotton ball to lightly dab the microbladed area a few times per hour as needed for the remainder of the day.
DAYS 1-7:
Wash the microbladed area twice per day followed by applying the microblading aftercare ointment.
· At the start and end of each day, use your clean fingertips and a mild antibacterial soap, like Cetaphil, to gently cleanse your eyebrows for 10-15 seconds.
· Avoid using any cleansing products that contain exfoliants or acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA).
· When rinsing, be sure to rinse every trace of soap from the microbladed area.
· Dry the entire eyebrow area completely by gently blotting it with a clean tissue.
· Use a clean finger to apply a small amount of the microblading aftercare ointment to the microbladed area. Do not apply the ointment unless the area is dry. Less is more when considering how much ointment to apply; the amount applied to each eyebrow should be comparable in size to half of a grain of rice.
· Microblading aftercare ointment should only be applied twice per day following the washes to avoid suffocating the skin and interfering with the skin’s natural healing process.
DAYS 8-14:
The aftercare ointment no longer needs to be applied unless your brows feel a little dry or itchy, but continue to gently wash the microbladed area each morning and night.
THINGS TO AVOID:
Resume your normal activities except, continue to avoid laser or chemical peels and forms of exfoliation, and any creams containing retinal or glycolic acid until after the completion of your microblading touch up appointment, and its healing process as well.
In a nutshell:
Wash your face gently and be especially careful around the treated area. Pat it with a clean tissue. Do not rub or scrub your brows. Avoid getting your brows excessively wet.
· Use only products that are gentle and free of fragrance and dye. A good rule of thumb is, if you wouldn’t use it on a baby, don’t use it on your face. I highly recommend Cetaphil face wash. When moisturizing, please avoid the brow area.
· Let any scabs fall off naturally. Do not pick or scratch. This will result in loss of pigment.
· Don’t sleep on your face and use a clean pillowcase.
· Don’t wear makeup for at least 10 days.
· Avoid sweating, saunas, swimming pools and long showers for 10-14 days.
· Avoid sun exposure and tanning for 10-14 day
